What is Thai Yoga Massage?

Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient healing practice originating in India over 2,500 years ago. It's roots are in Yoga, Ayurveda, and Buddhism. Thai Yoga Massage was originally practiced by Buddhist monks and nuns from India as a way of facilitating deeper states of consciousness, as well as keeping the body healthy and free of pain during long periods of meditation. As the order of Theraveda Buddhist monks migrated from India into Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia, Burma and Thailand, this special information was brought with them, and has become what we know today as 'Thai Massage'.

Cheri Neal is a Certified Massage Therapist and Certified Thai Massage Practitioner.  She has over 300hrs training in Traditional Thai Massage (Nuad Bo Rarn), and has studied extensively in Thailand.  She has been practicing Thai Yoga Massage in Chico, CA since 2010 and also teaches Thai Massage courses in California and worldwide.

Thai Yoga Massage is practiced on a thick mat on the floor, the client fully clothed in loose comfortable attire. It is a sequence of movements combining compression, assisted stretching, acupressure, muscle tissue manipulation and energy balancing. The effects are felt body wide, increasing circulation and flexibility, promoting deep relaxation of both deep and superficial tissues. It has a calming and quieting effect on the nervous system and many report going into deep states of meditation during the massage.

Overall, Thai Yoga Massage optimizes the body's own ability to heal and to bring one back into balance physically, mentally and emotionally. Thai Yoga Massage is ideal for athletes and yogis, people who are uncomfortable lying on their stomach, children, or for anyone wishing to experience this ancient healing practice.
